Just got back from Kansasfest 2026 yesterday. What an amazing time! I was describing it to a friend and he said "it sounds like a retro Apple summer camp" and I think that really nailed the vibe. I really hope to go back next year.

Meeting all these people who I'd seen in discords or facebook groups was cool, and I also met a lot of new people. Also (obviously) learned a lot of about hardware and software options and left with a much bigger project list than when I arrived.

One thing that I did not expect was how interested I became in the general Apple II archival project. I spent some time helping sort disks from the Garage Giveaway and ended up pre-ordering an AppleSauce so I can do some archiving myself. It feels almost like a duty to preserve all the stuff created in that era.
